On a Saturday morning, a group of our children took part in an engaging, hands-on learning experience at Victoria Yards, led by a wonderfully enthusiastic team.
|
They explored a range of creative and interactive activities — from beading and imaginative LEGO builds to challenging puzzles and more — all sparking curiosity and excitement. A special visit to the Sensory Space was a highlight of the morning and made the experience even more memorable.
|

It was a joyful morning of learning through play, filled with smiles throughout. Our sincere thanks to Nuag Foundation and Safe Study SA for putting together such a thoughtful and enriching experience for the children.

Our children recently had the opportunity to visit the National Children’s Theatre for a special performance of The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark.
|
|
The production tells the story of a young barn owl setting off on an adventure of self-discovery, meeting an array of memorable characters along the way — including a grandmother, a scout, and a stargazer — who each offer their own unique perspective on the beauty of the dark.
|
|
Filled with imagination and warmth, the story explores themes of courage and curiosity, encouraging young audiences to confront their fears and embrace new experiences. It was a truly enchanting outing that left a lasting impression on our children.

We were honoured to welcome representatives from UNHCR Southern Africa, Judo for Peace, along with members of various embassies and high commissions, to spend time at our project.
|
The visit created a valuable opportunity to showcase our learning environment and the work taking place within our classrooms. Our children proudly shared performances of drama, poetry, and dance, bringing energy and joy to the day.
|
|
We also appreciated the meaningful discussions that took place around the communities and families we support, as well as the chance to share our advocacy booklets and speak further about our work and impact.
|
|

Donation
|
Given the diverse needs within our community, which we are not always able to meet due to limited funding, we are always grateful for donations.
|
|
We recently received several bags of clothing from James, a student at St David’s Marist Inanda, who kindly organised this contribution. Our boys were very happy to receive these items. We sincerely thank James for his generosity and initiative.

Meeting with Cardinal Brislin
|
|
|
|
It was a true honour to meet with Cardinal Brislin, where we had the opportunity to present our key activities and the challenges we face, as well as to share our recent publications. We are sincerely grateful for his support of our organisation and, more broadly, for his commitment to advancing migrant rights, a cause that is at the core of our work.
|
|
|
|

|

|
Thank you to the learners from St David’s Marist Inanda School who spent time with some of our alumni at their new school, offering academic assistance and encouragement. Small acts of support between peers can have a lasting impact, and we value the care and commitment they showed through this initiative.
|
Among our girl alumni who now call Observatory Girls’ Primary School their new home, we are especially proud of Gabrielle, who placed in the top 10 out of 106 students at the end of the first term.
|
|
Gabrielle joined our project in Grade R and is now in Grade 7, and we are delighted to see her hard work and dedication being recognised.
|

Alumni dialogue
|
|
Building on the conversations that began in March, 15 of our alumni recently took part in another meaningful session facilitated by our partner at Timia Africa.
|
|
|
During the workshop, they reflected on their personal strengths, future goals, and the opportunities that may lie ahead, while also exploring potential challenges and ways to navigate adversity with confidence and resilience.
|
|
This session forms part of an ongoing journey of self-discovery and future planning, with two additional sessions scheduled in the coming weeks to further support and refine their aspirations for the future.
|
|
