End of term 1/ Parents meeting
We concluded the first time of the school year with a parents meeting that brought our Three2Six community together. The event featured contributions from our director, teachers, and our incredible students. They took stage with insightful presentations on human rights and captivated the audience with moving performances in dance and music. It was a powerful showcase of their hard work and creativity.
Our sincere thanks to all the parents who joined us. Your presence and ongoing support mean so much to our learners, you play an essential role in their journey. As we look ahead to term 2, we’re excited to continue building on this strong foundation — united as a community, and committed to growing together.

Danica, who used to teach our children at Dominican Convent School, returned to the project with a wonderful gesture of generosity and care. Together with her family and friends, she donated a large quantity of food items to support our feeding programme. This donation will go a long way in helping us provide daily, healthy meals for the children. Also, each child received a surprise to bring them a moment of joy.

When Danica arrived, the children’s reaction said it all. Their faces lit up with excitement, rushing to greet someone who clearly holds a special place in their hearts. It was a moving reminder of how deeply our educators impact the lives of our learners. We are incredibly grateful to Danica and her family for their support. Their kindness reflects the very spirit of Three2Six — community, compassion, and commitment to our children’s well-being.

As the Easter season approached, our learners received a sweet and joyful surprise. We would like to thank the daughter of one of our staff members for her generous donation of Easter eggs. In a time that celebrates renewal, care, and community, this act of kindness perfectly captured the spirit of the season.

We are grateful to Marist Brothers Linmeyer for generously donating three CD players to our project. These devices will support our educational activities, helping us bring audio resources to our students. Thank you for your support and for believing in the power of accessible learning.

Advocacy update
Our team actively participated in advocacy meetings with partner organisations in the migration sector. These included a Protection Working Group meeting (co-chaired by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Department of Justice and Constitutional Development) and a members’ meeting of the Consortium for Refugees and Migrants in South Africa (CoRMSA) with Lawyers for Human Rights, Black Sash, and other stakeholders. Both gatherings focused on fostering collaboration through project updates and raised concerns about the impact of recent U.S. funding cuts on the sector.

This month’s Alumni Day was full of creativity and fun as our former students took part in a mock trial. The fictional case revolved around the mysterious theft of a weather machine - the reason behind the unusually heavy rainfall in Johannesburg at this time of year. Our alumni brought the courtroom to life by role-playing the different figures in the trial, from lawyers to witnesses to the judge. After compelling arguments and dramatic testimony, one team was ultimately found “guilty” and sentenced - of course, all in good humour.

The day concluded on a social note with a shared lunch, giving everyone the chance to unwind after the courtroom excitement. We look forward to seeing you all again next month!
