On Ash Wednesday, we gathered to celebrate Mass together and began the sacred season of Lent. During this meaningful occasion, we received ashes as a reminder to “repent and believe in the Gospel.” Lent marks the beginning of a 40-day journey of spiritual growth, inviting us to pause, reflect, and deepen our faith. Through fasting, prayer, and acts of kindness, we draw closer to God.

What made this Ash Wednesday especially significant was the opportunity to come together as a community—not only to observe this sacred day, but to do so as part of our larger journey in the shared mission and project we are committed to.

May this season of reflection bring us all a deeper sense of peace, purpose, and spiritual renewal as we prepare for the joy of Easter. We are grateful to have come together to share this meaningful moment.

Outing to the theatre

Our Foundation Phase students had the exciting opportunity to watch ‘The Wonderful World of Beatrix Potter’ at the National Children’s Theatre. The performance was a mix of storytelling and music that kept the children engaged from start to finish.

For many, it was their first time experiencing live theatre, and their excitement was evident. The show not only entertained but also sparked curiosity and conversations about the characters and themes. It was a fantastic experience, and we look forward to more theatre outings in the future!

Sports at the project

Since the beginning of the school year, every Tuesday our learners have the opportunity to choose from a variety of different sports, including football, tennis, netball, and basketball. This not only keeps them active but also helps them develop teamwork, discipline, and a love for sports.

In addition, our learners are also enjoying swimming lessons right here on campus—a truly special experience for them! Learning to swim is an essential skill, and we are proud to provide this opportunity.

To ensure the best possible coaching, our dedicated staff is working closely with coaches from our host school, Sacred Heart College. Their expertise and commitment help our children develop their skills while having fun.

We are thrilled to see our students embracing sports with so much enthusiasm and can’t wait to see their progress throughout the year!

Their visit was a moment of joy and connection, filled with cultural exchange and shared enthusiasm.

Our learners made sure to give them a warm welcome by bringing the visit to life with a vibrant performance! Through music and dance, they proudly showcased their talents.

A heartfelt thank you to our visitors for taking the time to engage with our project. Your presence, interest, and support mean the world to us and, most importantly, to the children whose lives we strive to enrich every day.

This year again we had the privilege of participating in the Human Rights Day Festival at Constitution Hill where our team had a stall. It was an inspiring two days filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and the shared commitment to advancing human rights. We had the opportunity to showcase our work, distribute our publications, and engage with a diverse and passionate community. We sincerely appreciate everyone who stopped by our stand to learn more about our project and mission.

Catholic Schools' Cultural Festival

We were proud to take part in this Festival held at St Dominic’s, where our children had the wonderful opportunity to showcase their talents. They performed beautifully on the marimbas, delivered powerful speeches during the public speaking segment, and our student Isaac captivated the audience with his piano performance. It was a joyful celebration of culture, creativity, and community spirit.

Weltwärts Partner Conference

Our project coordinator Justine Kimbala had the honour of participating in this Partner Conference in Cape Town, bringing together key stakeholders involved in the international North-South volunteer exchange programme. The conference, funded by the German government (BMZ), provided a unique opportunity for organisations involved in sending and receiving volunteers to share experiences, deepen partnerships, and explore pathways for improving programme quality and impact.

Over the five days, they engaged in a rich programme that included keynote presentations from the Programme Steering Committee, Engagement Global, Volunta, and the German Consulate. Each session reflected a strong commitment to fostering mutual learning and responsible global citizenship.

Key highlights included:
  • A gallery walk showcasing innovative volunteer projects;
  • A powerful discussion on conflict resolution and managing challenges in volunteer behaviour;
  • Site visits to local volunteer placements, offering firsthand insight into daily realities and community impact;
  • Open space discussions that encouraged participant-led dialogue on emerging needs and experiences.
What stood out most was the spirit of collaborative reflection, where all voices especially those of Southern partners were valued. This experience not only enriched our understanding of international volunteer dynamics but also reinforced the importance of equitable partnerships, cultural sensitivity, and shared responsibility in the success of development-oriented volunteering. We are inspired to strengthen local implementation and to advocate for more inclusive and impactful volunteer exchanges in our context. A warm thank you to our partner Kindermissionswerk - Die Sternsinger for giving us this opportunity.
Each donation counts and helps us make a valuable change in the lives of our learners.
