Dominican 2024 - We are golden

As the year and our chapter at Domincan Convent School comes to an end, we bid farewell to the school in a truly special way. Together, we created a beautiful mural featuring the fingerprints of every child and staff member at the school. Here's to the golden legacy of Dominican Convent School!

30 learners from our Foundation Phase had the wonderful opportunity to visit the National Children’s Theater. The children enjoyed a lively performance filled with singing, dancing, and plenty of fun. It was a memorable experience for everyone! A big thank you to the National Children’s Theater for the invitation and for providing such a joyful outing for our students!

Donations

MyWalk shoe donation
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to MyWalk for donating school shoes to the children in the Three2Six project. This generous support helps ensure that they are better prepared for their school day and makes a real difference in their daily lives. We truly appreciate this contribution and the positive impact it has on our learners.

Sole2Sole donation
In 2017, Dario Gouveia wrote a letter that sparked an inspiring initiative. He described how he had seen a young boy around his own age whose feet were worn and cut from going without proper shoes. This made Dario think about how many shoes he had in his own closet that were too small for him. He wondered what could be achieved if everyone collected their too-small shoes and donated them to those in need. His goal was to collect 1,000 shoes.

Recently, Three2Six was fortunate to receive a donation as part of this effort, and we are deeply grateful for Dario’s generosity and the impact of his contribution.

Today, Dario, along with his sister Liana, continues this important work through their initiative, Sole2Sole. Dario is now in Grade 11, and Liana is in Grade 9 at Marist Linmeyer. Their dedication and compassion continue to inspire those around them and bring lasting support to communities in need.

Visitors

Christine from Kindermissionswerk `Die Sternsinger`
We were happy to welcome Christine from Kindermissionswerk ‘Die Sternsinger’ to the Three2Six project recently. Kindermissionswerk ‘Die Sternsinger’ is a German organization that has been a partner for many years, providing valuable support by sending volunteers to work with us.

During her visit, Christine had the chance to observe the day-to-day activities at the project and see how our current volunteer, Anna-Lena, is contributing. It was a great opportunity to see firsthand the positive impact this partnership continues to have.

We are thankful for the ongoing support from Kindermissionswerk ‘Die Sternsinger,’ and for the role they play in helping us provide more opportunities to the children in our project.

Grade 7s farewell

Every journey comes to an end. Recently we celebrated the farewell of our Grade 7s as they close this chapter of their lives at Three2Six. The event was filled with heartfelt speeches from teachers and students, a special recognition of the altar servers, and a shared meal that brought everyone together. We are incredibly proud of the growth they’ve shown during their time at the project. As they step into the next phase of their educational journey, we wish them nothing but success. We are excited to see the bright futures ahead!

Alumni Day

This Alumni day, the children worked using the Notebook LM app, which can convert long sources into podcasts. This tool is especially useful for exam preparation, as it allows students to listen to content instead of reading lengthy texts. At the end of the session, there was some extra time to play quizzes on math topics, helping the students to review and prepare for the upcoming exams. As always, the day was ended with a lunch provided by the Marist brothers.

For the final Alumni Day of the year, something truly special is planned: a fun swimming session followed by a Braai, bringing everyone together for one last time this year.
